Hair transplantation ( FUE and FUT )
Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that removes hair follicles from one part of the body, called the ‘donor site’, to a bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’. The technique is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness, but it can also be used to help with other hair loss conditions. Donor hair can be harvested in two different ways: FUT (follicular unit transplantation), and FUE (follicular unit extraction).
FUT (follicular unit transplantation)
FUT is a technique for removing hair and follicles from a donor site. The technician harvests a strip of skin from the posterior scalp, in an area of good hair growth. Once the strip is taken the resulting wound will be closed by suture (stitches). This leaves with a linear scar at the back of the scalp.
These scars can be camouflaged with Scalp Micro-pigmentation. The percentage of camouflage which can be achieved with SMP depends upon how the scar has healed (raised scar, color of the scar tissue etc). Contact us for a free consultation.
FUE (follicular unit extraction)
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a hair transplantation technique in which individual follicular units containing 1-4 hairs are removed from the donor area. The donor area is typically the back of the head where hair is more resistant to balding. This micro removal typically uses tiny punches of between 0.6mm and 1.0mm in diameter. Because individual follicles are removed, small dotted scars remain which look like white dots at the back of the scalp.Scalp Micropigmentation can easily mask FUE scars, which are small in size and blend it with existing hair around the scars. How Does SMP Work For Scarring?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is an excellent solution for disguising scars – regardless of their size or shape. Whether it be post- hair transplant scarring or a scar from an injury, SMP is the only treatment which guarantees results. Our practitioners are highly experienced in treating scar tissue of all types, including those gained from either FUE hair transplants, FUT hair transplants, or personal injury.
SMP can treat scars of all shapes and sizes, making it the perfect solution for anyone looking to improve the appearance of their scar
